Medical Clearance & Contraindications

Certain medical conditions, medical history, or medications require written medical clearance prior to treatment. This may be a brief note or email from your physician confirming that permanent makeup is safe for you at this time.
Medical clearance is required if you have, or have a history of:
-
Uncontrolled diabetes (blood sugar levels not well regulated)
-
Lupus

Bleeding disorders or conditions affecting clotting

Use of blood thinners or immune-suppressing medications
-
Chemotherapy or radiation (current or within the past year)

Recent facial surgery or cosmetic procedures in the treatment area
-
Hip or knee joint replacement requiring antibiotic pre-medication
Important for joint replacement clients:
If your physician requires antibiotic pre-medication prior to any cosmetic or dental procedure following a hip or knee replacement, it is essential that you take your prescribed antibiotic before your appointment as directed by your doctor. Failure to do so will require your appointment to be rescheduled.
Contraindications (Treatment Cannot Be Performed)
Permanent makeup cannot be performed if you are:

Pregnant
-
Under the age of 18
Treatment will also not be performed if you have active skin conditions in the treatment area, including:
-
Open sores, active eczema flares, psoriasis, dermatitis, or rashes
-
Active infections, broken skin, cysts, or inflammation
A simple doctor’s note or emailed approval is sufficient when medical clearance is required. Most medical offices are familiar with these requests and can often provide clearance via email after leaving a message with the receptionist.
Important Medical Note
If medical clearance or required pre-medication is not provided or completed prior to your appointment, the appointment will need to be rescheduled in accordance with our cancellation policy.
